It's been a good little while since I posted one of these self-pics, but I thought I'd show everyone my new eyeglasses. Today, I got my first pair of Bifocals. Yeah, I'm getting old and my eyes know it.
I spent $300 dollars on two pair of glasses, today. I'm hoping that I won't need to get anymore for a good long time. I knew I needed to get new eyeglasses for some time now, but I didn't have the coin to shell out for a new pair. Today, I dug deep to get them. Well, here I am in my new specs.
Well, those loveable Free Huggers were on on Michigan Avenue again, yesterday. As I was walking past the crowd of happy huggers, I too was somehow swept into the feel good euphoria of hugging total strangers. Oddly enough it does make you feel good inside to just connect with someone and share an act of affection. I think everyone needs a hug, sometimes.
Well, with all the stuff that we have been going through lately in life it's good to know that it doesn't really cost anything to make someone, or even ourselves, smile. Hey, would you like a free hug, today?
Did you ever dream of going to Space? Did you ever want to be an Astronaut? I can still remember watching the Apollo Moon Missions on t.v. When I was a kid I wanted my own Space Capsule so I could fly around in Space. Well, I never made it to Space, but I still dream of it every time I look at the Moon and the Stars.
Well, I went to the Planetarium this week and just enjoyed all the exhibits on life on and off the Planet Earth. The closest I'll get to traveling in Space will probably be an episode of Star Trek. Until then, I'll still have my childhood dreams of my Space Capsule.
When I was a kid one of the many things I wanted to be was a Navel Officer. I wanted to be Captain of a Battleship or Commander of a Submarine. I wanted to sail the seas and fight the enemies of Democracy, or at least the radioactive mutant plants that were eating people on the island I was stationed on. Ah, but it was not to be. I was never going to be in the Navy. I had one big drawback, I couldn't swim. I thought swimming might come in handy in the Navy, at least knowing how would help. Eventhough my grandmother had got me a Navy Commander's uniform (sized for kids...Wow thinking back on it, Granny spent some real coin on that) I wasn't going to "Sink the bismark" or "Run Silent, Run Deep". I just wasn't gonna see that dream come true.
Nowadays whenever I see a Navy Officer, a see some Aircraft Carrier or Battlecruiser on the t.v. News, I think about what might have been. I'm sure I'd be an Admiral by now.
Today, I was in my first movie. I am an extra in an independent movie being shot in Chicago. This is a low budget Sci-Fi thriller where I'm one of the many parishioners of an evil Priest. Yeah, it's got straight to DVD written all over it, but it's a lot of fun. This is my second acting gig this year, since finishing up at the Lyric Opera in February. I'm really starting to enjoy all of this, but I still don't feel quite right calling myself an "Actor". I guess I'll need to grow into that.
Anyway, it's time to enjoy the free food at Craft Services before shooting the next scene. Ciao!
I had a full day, today. I had to get up and out early to attend a Media workshop that ran from 9:00am to 3:00pm. I had to do some job hunting (online) from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. I then grabbed a very unsatisfying meal at Wendy's from 5:20pm to 6:00pm. Then my evening was capped off with a trip to the movies that lasted from 6:30pm until 9:30pm (not too mention the two hot dogs and small coke for a King's ransom at the concession counter.) Now I'm on my way home. It was a full day.
I'm attending the Soutside Arts & Humanities Network's Meet the Press 2009 event. The workshops cover the basics of social networking through social media forums (Vox, Wordpress, Twitter, etc.) Hey, it's about time I try to learn how to blog.
Anyway, I hoping to build a better blog after all of this. You know connecting with folks far and way is a lot of fun.
